How to Upgrade Your Language Kit [Burmese]
This document applies to users who have been specifically directed to manually remove language kit files associated with a previous version prior to an upgrade. There is generally no reason for other users to remove files though several steps here can help remedy re-installation problems on occasion.
- The installer we use does not look for or recognize previous versions of the font files so these need to be removed before you install this upgrade. Fonts for our kits are always installed into the /Library/Fonts folder but they may have a variety of extensions including .ttf, .dfont and .suit. The font names always begin with "XenoType".
In this particular upgrade (Burmese 2.0), it is important that you remove the previous version of the font or your Fonts folder will contain two versions of the font and you may experience unpredictable results.
- Next you'll need to remove the keyboard layout files — these are always installed in /Library/Keyboard Layouts. There are two files and they begin with relevant language names (Burmese, Sinhala, Tibetan, etc.) and end with the extensions .keylayout and .icns. Both items should be moved to the Trash.
If you have a single file with the extension .rsrc, you can safely leave the file in place.
- Finally, you'll need to remove some files from the directory /Library/Receipts. The number of files you find here and their names will depend on whether you have more than one language kit, and the version of the language kit. Since we're upgrading here, we'll just delete any files that fit the pattern.
Look for any files that begin with the letters "xtt" — there are generally three files for each kit (one each for the keyboard, font and help files). The rest of the file names should indicate any one of these three, optionally preceded by a two letter language abbreviation.
All such files should be moved to the Trash.
- Empty your Trash, log out and back in, then you can run the Installer for the upgrade.
