Installation

You will need to be logged in as Admin or have access to the Admin password to install the Tibetan Language Kit for OS X successfully.

The Tibetan Language Kit for OS X is distributed electronically as a Disk Copy image, typically in binary format. Once you download the kit, you should find a file named ‘TibetanOSXv2.0.dmg.’ Simply double-click the icon to mount the disk image.

Once mounted, you’ll find several files. The only one you need to use is the file called Tibetan Language Kit. Double-click it to install the complete kit and follow the on-screen instructions. [The other items install the keyboard and font files individually but the Installer will take care of these automatically.]

1. Click the icon or download link for the file to download it to your computer.
2. Wait until the download is complete. If your web browser and system are properly configured, Disk Copy will launch to open the downloaded disk image.
3. A new Finder window will appear containing the installer files for the Tibetan Language Kit for OS X — simply double-click the X icon labelled “Tibetan Language Kit 2.0” to install the complete kit.
4. Once the kit is installed, you can safely "eject" the virtual disk it came on (and dispose of the .dmg file you downloaded if you choose).
5. If you already have other keyboards activated, you can add the Tibetan-XTT keyboard layout easily by clicking on the flag icon in your title bar and selecting the last item Customize Menu... If you have no foreign keyboards activated yet, select International from the System Preferences pane.
6. Select the Input Menu tab and scroll down the list until you find the Tibetan-XTT keyboard and select it.

If Disk Copy doesn't automatically open when your download completes, follow these steps:

a. Find the file you just downloaded. It will usually be saved to your desktop.
b. Double-click this image to open it in Mac OS X's Disk Copy application, which will mount it as a virtual disk and open a new Finder window showing the contents of this virtual disk.

If Disk Copy does not launch when you double click on the file, you can try dragging the downloaded file onto the Disk Copy icon in your Dock or the /Applications/Utilities/ folder.
