Assyrian Typeface Syriac
Language Kit
$59 USD

Extended Syriac language capabilities* are now available to Macintosh users!

We have recently finished our first OS X release of three of our own Syriac fonts. We provide full Western vowel support in a nice Serto style plus two additional typefaces (with support currently limited to the most common diacritics).

What does this mean for Syriac users? Probably the most significant advantage is the ability to view web pages written in Syriac, which makes things like the entire Peshitto available finally to Macintosh users online as well as Syriac web pages like this one from Wikipedia:

Syriac in Firefox

You’ll also be able to send and receive emails, name documents on your computer and use the Syriac language in a wide variety of software applications.

Our first release version for OS X is only $59 USD and includes 3 different typestyles, but anybody who purchases now will also receive the 4th typeface (supporting Eastern vowels and typographic traditions) when it’s completed. Download the Syriac Help File (1.19 MB) for samples of all 4 fonts.

The version does not include a keyboard layout but if you already have one that you use with the Mellel and the Meltho fonts, you can use the same one with our fonts. Or, download one of the other commonly available Syriac keyboards.

We also expect to add enhanced vowel/diacritic support to all of our fonts in the near future, and make some minor adjustments — these upgrades will be free.

* The Meltho fonts have been available for some time but have the single drawback of only being compatible with Mellel. There is a chance that we might some day update those fonts to work properly with OS X so that users can use them in a wider variety of applications.
